Minutes
Countywide Prevention Consortium
Chester County Healthy Communities Consortium
Subcommittee Meeting
10/27/03 at 10:00am
In attendance: Carol Henson, Terry Kenworthy, Rana Watterson
Meeting began at 10:30am due to bad weather conditions.
Terry opened meeting by expressing concern for individual CTC sites and
their sustainability. Terry and Carol agreed that keeping our countywide
consortium specific to current CTC sites and their needs is important
and necessary at this time. It was agreed upon that opening the
consortium up to other agencies is important and would be a future goal,
after a solid, strategic plan is in place for out current sites. All
agreed that devoting resources and technical assistance to our current
sites is most critical and a priority at this time.
Terry discussed the pending Claneil grants. Terry said she has received
positive feedback and that announcements are expected in December.
Group discussed developing/changing the name of our countywide effort.
Per our previous meetings/minutes, it was suggested that we consider the
words “healthy youth” in our countywide name. The discussion of our name
lead to the discussion of a mission statement. Rana reviewed prepared
mission statement ideas. Following has been tentatively approved by
subcommittee members present, pending input from other members:
“The Chester County Healthy Communities Consortium is a web of agencies,
individuals, and organizations created to connect resources which
promote healthy youth and families throughout Chester County”.
Carol discussed ideas regarding a vision statement in addition to a
mission statement. Carol suggested the words “risk assessment” be
included in a vision statement. This matter will be further discussed at
our next meeting.
It was suggested that we have our task force (from April) back in
January to discuss a key leader meeting in the summer 2004. Invites for
the January task force will go out in December. This will be further
addressed at the next meeting.
Items to be discussed at our next subcommittee meeting (on Monday,
November 17th) include:
1. Review of our countywide name and mission statement
2. Review of our goals, objectives, plans, and directions
3. Discuss/confirm January task force (date, and who can do what?)
4. Who will do what for the January task force?
Meeting adjourned at noon.
